EssentialSunday~Number 15_ Friendly Fires

This weeks Essential Mixers are the three chap band dubbed none other than, Friendly Fires. Branded in the eastern county of Hertforshire, the trio considers themselves Tropical Pop/Disco House, and I'd say that's just fine. They released their self titled debut album in September of 2008 and are working on another to come sometime in 2009. Currently signed on XL Recordings, their latest singles, Kiss of Life and Skeleton Boy, are hitting some top spots on the UK chart. With their schedule booked with both live performances and Dj sets, I'd say there's nowhere to go but up for these kids. Enjoy!

Hitting number 13 on Dj Mag's Top 100 Djs list, the 'au courant' Dutch bombshell Sander Van Doorn tears up the decks with this weeks Essential Mix. Though having released many singles, it wasn't until March of last year that the 30 year old producer completed his first artist album titled 'Supernaturalistic' for Spinnin'. He has also just recently been added as one of Ibiza's Cream resident's and is touring the world from East to West bringing us the best of "House to Tech-House and Tech-House to Tech-Trance". We receive visually stunning works rather regularly from our good friends Tee Ski & Shab Ruffcut, so to share them with you is indeed a treat to both us and yourself. Check out the animated videos for their tracks "Sax Attacker", "Falling", and "Finger Midget" sent our way. These guys have been hard at work lately, with the recent completion of their 'Ooww Bar Boo EP', complete with remixes from Jacob London, Edu K, & Kyle Watson. And with another made to play bit of buisness, Shab Ruffcut has just finished and released his insane 'Twist EP', with a whopping remix from Stupid Fresh, a nice and bouncy take from the Lad down under, Wongo, a bubbely cut by Bill Eff, a version by Wonk that basically screams..wonky, and a tribal oriented mix from the big man down in Brazil, Edu K. Both these releases Out Now on Dandy Kid Records over at Beatport so go grab em! French Minimal-Tech mastermind Paul Ritch cranks the knobs with this week's Essentail Mix. Starting his career in 2006 on German-based label Resopal Schallware, this production powerhouse released 5 EPs a year later on labels such as Get Physical and Fumakilla. Yet he didn't stop there, while in 2008 Mr. Ritch played a number of huge music festivals and continues to do so in the current year all over the world. Try and keep up with this one my droogs!

Wildlight: 'Oh Shit!'

"Free Ep" are words I've been seeing a lot less often in House music, but not to fear! Our main man Wongo has gone ahead and made a few tracks completely out of this world, and completely free of charge! Dig this EP entitled 'Oh Shit!' and head on over to his Myspace for some new stuff he's working on along with a list of gig dates and such.

*These tracks weren't released for free due to quality issues or an inability to find a label to sponsor it. There both amazing and there's an awful lot of work put into both of them. If you like bouncy bassy goodness, you'll absolutely love this!

Wongo - Oh Yeah (Original Mix)

So much noise! A horn sample from Lafayette, Three or four different vocals all chopped to hell and thrown in the blender with a great bassline and voilá!

Pitch shifting basses all throughout, mixed with some crazy asian themed samples, and some ridiculous sound effects. Once again, a masterpiece.

Wildlight: Afrojack

Afrojack (Nick van de Wall) is a producer and Dj from Spijkenisse, Netherlands. He is famous for tunes like 'In Your Face' and his remix of Greg Cerrones hit track, 'Invincible'. Nick's production gets support from huge names like Laidback Luke and Fedde Le Grande, and also runs his own record label, "Wall Recordings". I recently came across his remix of Spencer & Hill, (which is amazing) and figured Id post some of his more recent tunes for you guys to check out. Enjoy!

Mildlight: Mark Knight

When it comes to making beautiful house tunes, no ones on a fresher tip then Mark Knight. Not much needs to be said about this super-producer but I'll say it anyways. Mark is constantly sitting on the top of the beatport chart, and with every release he takes Tech, Minimal, and Progressive House to a whole new level, his tracks make frequent appearances on Radio 1's Essential Mix, Mark's label, 'Toolroom Records' is possibly the most demanded House label in the game, and on top of all this, Mark and the 'Toolroom Knights' are consistently spinning records around the world. Mark Knight is the super-man of House music and if you don't already, get to know him now with these three amazing tracks.

My favorite Mark Knight track. Super fat kicks and bass, huge builds and breaks, and those white noises and bleeps we all know and love.

Stockholm born Linus Eklow, aka Style of Eye, is ingenious when it comes to his tech productions. With his solid basslines, glitchy tech melodies, and one of a kind breakdowns, its no wonder Style of Eye, is being played by top DJs such as Richie Hawtin and Anja Schneider. You may have heard some of his recent works on the massive labels Pickadoll or DirtyBird with his huge tunes 'Girls' and 'The Big Kazoo'. This summer he will be touring Europe and have a residency at Es Paradiso in Ibiza as well as his honor of being nominated for the Sweedish Grammy for Best Electronic Producer. With all this under Linus' belt, its no suprise that he also brought us an outstanding Essential Mix for this week. Enjoy!
