Sitting at the top of the charts for over a decade, Matthias Paul has revolutionized the art of disc jockeying and production. Better known under his musical pseudonym Paul Van Dyk, the German born maestro has sold over 3 million albums worldwide; much to accomplish for the electronic music industry. Since his start breeding his creativity through forbidden Western radio and smuggled mixtapes across the Berlin Wall, Paul could be called the 'Cinderella Story' of modern dance music. Beginning in 1994 Paul released Seven Ways, a continuous mix album of trance music released on MFS Records and later on Deviant and Mute Records. Since then he has released a plethora of EPs, LPs, albums, and mixes which lead him to the great success he has become today. With that said, Paul now hosts Radio Fritz every Saturday at 20:00 GMT and during his latest gigs, he compiles DJ'ing and live performance by utilizing two 17" MacBook Pro laptops whilst using Mainstage Logic 8 Pro and Ableton Live software on both laptops and two MIDI keyboards which definitely confirms the level this man is at. And now without further adieu, a man not so new to the Essential Mix line up, we have Mr. Paul Van Dyk bringing us a quite uplifting end of summer mix that I believe everyone can enjoy.

Born in Southampton, James' career took off right after his guest appearance on John Digweed's Kiss 100 show back in 2005. Since then he's been gaining hype with projects for Underwater, CR2, Data, Big Love, Saved, and Little Mountain Records whilst working on his own label, Spoken Recordings. James continues his promising work as both a producer and DJ by giving us this week's Essential Mix. Enjoy!

This smashing Essential Mix comes to you in the form of a live set hot from one of UK's most celebrated festivals. Creamfeild's 11th annual celebration included sets from Tiesto, David Guetta, the Swedish House Mafia, and the two artists featured in this mix; Yousef and Mark Knight. In the first hour, Yousef takes us on a journey through South American minimal, giant tech tracks, and funkalicious boogie. An amazing hour of House music to say the least. Mark's set focusses on the opposite side of the house music spectrum, but is no less entertaining. He intro's with La Roux's mesmerizing vocals in Mark's own remix of 'In For The Kill,' and flys through some excellent big room tech, up-lifting vocals, and moving bass. If your an Essential Mix fan, you need to get up on this one!

Playing an eclectic mix of big room bangers, the Iranian-American Sharam got his solo feet wet in 2006 when he released 'Global Underground: Dubai' compilation, as well as everyones favorite tune, 'Party All The Time'. His current activities include his newest album 'Get Wild' along with the worldwide CD live show tour including guest appearances by Patsy Cline, Kid Cudi, Tommy Lee, Chuck D, Diddy, and Daniel Bedingfield. Major Lazer is the legendary Jamaican commando who lost his arm in the secret Zombie War of 1984. The US military rescued him and repurposed experimental lazers as prosthetic limbs. His true mission is to protect the world from the dark forces of evil that live just under the surface of a civilized society. Completely tearing down the house in this weeks Essential Mix is London's bass monster, Dub producer, and runner of the highly regarded Sub Soldiers imprint (sister label to Dub Police), Caspa. When it comes to filthy greatness, this guys all over it. He shows off his unique style throughout this two hours as he flips through some roaring bass, catchy vocals, huge builds, and Badman Reggae. If your thinking about skipping this week due to a lack of Dub taste, don't! This mix might surprise you! With that being said, this mix is also not for the faint at heart, our more mild followers should listen with caution. If not, it's loudness button is on' as our good friend would say. Enjoy!

This weeks guest is no stranger when it comes to the Essential Mix. In 2005 he smashed the decks live at Space Ibiza, one of the most off parties of the year and now he's back to do it again in the '09. Erick Morillo constantly rocks the likes of Pacha in Ibiza at his legendary Subliminal Session parties, which was named "Best International Club" of 2002 and "Best Ibiza Party" of 2001 by Muzik Magazine. He has mixed countless compilation Cd's which he shows off his talent differently in every single one. Morillo's prestigious swagger while mixing is a sight to be seen and his track selection has to be considered pure pleasure, bringing an enormous crowd as he travels the world playing at the wildest parties imaginable. If your a fan of classic house, your going to love this mix!

This weeks Essential Mixers are the three chap band dubbed none other than, Friendly Fires. Branded in the eastern county of Hertforshire, the trio considers themselves Tropical Pop/Disco House, and I'd say that's just fine. They released their self titled debut album in September of 2008 and are working on another to come sometime in 2009. Currently signed on XL Recordings, their latest singles, Kiss of Life and Skeleton Boy, are hitting some top spots on the UK chart. With their schedule booked with both live performances and Dj sets, I'd say there's nowhere to go but up for these kids. Enjoy!

Hitting number 13 on Dj Mag's Top 100 Djs list, the 'au courant' Dutch bombshell Sander Van Doorn tears up the decks with this weeks Essential Mix. Though having released many singles, it wasn't until March of last year that the 30 year old producer completed his first artist album titled 'Supernaturalistic' for Spinnin'. He has also just recently been added as one of Ibiza's Cream resident's and is touring the world from East to West bringing us the best of "House to Tech-House and Tech-House to Tech-Trance". French Minimal-Tech mastermind Paul Ritch cranks the knobs with this week's Essentail Mix. Starting his career in 2006 on German-based label Resopal Schallware, this production powerhouse released 5 EPs a year later on labels such as Get Physical and Fumakilla. Stockholm born Linus Eklow, aka Style of Eye, is ingenious when it comes to his tech productions. With his solid basslines, glitchy tech melodies, and one of a kind breakdowns, its no wonder Style of Eye, is being played by top DJs such as Richie Hawtin and Anja Schneider. You may have heard some of his recent works on the massive labels Pickadoll or DirtyBird with his huge tunes 'Girls' and 'The Big Kazoo'. This summer he will be touring Europe and have a residency at Es Paradiso in Ibiza as well as his honor of being nominated for the Sweedish Grammy for Best Electronic Producer. With all this under Linus' belt, its no suprise that he also brought us an outstanding Essential Mix for this week. Enjoy!

For just about two decades now French maestro Laurent Garnier has been djing and producing all over the world. Starting in the late 80's under the name Dj Pedro, Garnier has played at all sorts of clubs and events earning him respect as one of the greatest djs in the world. We last heard him in 2005 for the Essential Mix in Ibiza, but in this week's two hour mix, Laurent brings us a set broken in half. The first being strait from the club and the second will be "extremely, extremely open minded." Also for this post I have included a mix from Garnier at Rave Energy 1993 (for those who are interested), to hear the progression electronic music has made over the years. Although here at MildWild it is truly uncommon for drum & bass to be posted, I believe that this week's Essential Mix deserves a listen. The young and talented Nick Douwma a.k.a. Sub Focus brings to us a nonstop sleezy-bass filled mix that completely blew my head off. Only first being introduced to the electronic community in 2003, Sub Focus has pushed the limits of drum & bass earning him the number one spot on the UK Dance Chart with his 12" 'X-Ray/Scarecrow' in March of 2005 and another top spot in June of 2008 with past 12" 'Timewarp/Join The Dots'. He's one of the top producers for the 'king of drum & bass' Andy C's massive label RAM Records and sure doesn't disappoint with both his productions nor this explosive mix.
