EssentialSunday~Number 11_ Laurent Garnier

For just about two decades now French maestro Laurent Garnier has been djing and producing all over the world. Starting in the late 80's under the name Dj Pedro, Garnier has played at all sorts of clubs and events earning him respect as one of the greatest djs in the world. We last heard him in 2005 for the Essential Mix in Ibiza, but in this week's two hour mix, Laurent brings us a set broken in half. The first being strait from the club and the second will be "extremely, extremely open minded." Also for this post I have included a mix from Garnier at Rave Energy 1993 (for those who are interested), to hear the progression electronic music has made over the years. Hope all enjoy this fantastic mix!

Mildlight: Deep Sound

Harold Ramirez (Deep Sound) is one of Manizales, Colombia's freshest talents. At the tender age of fifteen, Harold was overwhelmed with House music and became engulfed by the tantalizing night clubs in his city. He had a bold love for the music early in his life, so as can be determined, this love led to the amazing sound that is perfectly defined by his alias. Signed onto Overline Records and Bedroom Muzik while making tracks with Jeff Karing, Deep Sound is on a roll in 2009. Head on over to the 'Port for some amazing Deep Sound tracks, you won't be let down.

*Harold was nice enough to give us full privileges to two of his freshest tunes... Thanks again!

Hard and deep, just the way we like it

In depth Tech with insane synth stabs and some dope bleeps, Get it if you know what's good for you

WildLight:JokersOfTheScene_ "It began... In Canada..."

Ottawa's Bob and Doug McKenzie (more familiarly recognized as Jokers of the Scene) were just part-time party DJs not too long ago, when off sprung a series of extra potent dance floor bombs that were soon recognized by some entirely significant names in the game, subsequently sending this duo on their way to the big time. These guys aren't joking around with their hectic work schedule, which includes playing all over the world (the boys are currently touring Europe) and being signed to the ever meritable Fool's Gold Records imprint owned and operated by fellow friends A-Trak & Nick Catchdubs. Their most anticipated work of 2008, the 'Acid Bagg' EP was an enormous success and is still being played out across the globe in every club near and far. With amazing remixes completed for the likes of Brodinski, Water Lilly & St. Plomb, fellow Canadians Nacho Lovers, and the ever formidable Congorock, these dudes have made an astounding mark on the world. If all of this wasn't enough, they are also the founding fathers of the infamous Canadian Ipod Battles, which indeed look to be absolutely insane! Enjoy some of their finer workings, they're sure to make you groove on over to Beatport to support em! Enjoy!

Samples from Pharoah Monch's 'Simon Says' and some huge rippy bass, ideal for saying something without moving your mouth!

Scott Cooper & Andy George - Jump & Twist (Jokers Of The Scene Remix)

A toned down version of the ever so sly original by Cooper & George

Muscles - The Lake (Jokers Of The Scene Remix)

An insane rework including more wrath filled synth lines alongside epic breadowns

Wildlight : Calvertron

If someone were to describe music to you as, "Impossible to pigeonhole with all the excitement of a frog in a blender..", what might you start thinking? It remains unknown who the lyrical wizard behind this statement was, but it can be certain that they're definitely nailing the describing sound style of Alex Calver (more popularly known as Calvertron), former Twocker component alongside our favorite basshead (err.. Weazal), Will Bailey. For the past 6 year's he's churned out an impressive load of work to accommodate an equally impressive international tour schedule, resulting in the what can only be rendered as undeniably genius. With a solid home base at Jack Knife Records and a slamming new release on Lee Mortimer's Wearhouse Music, his sound has indeed made an imprint on today's future sound of dance music. As well as creating immense wobble fusion these days, the man behind it all is also extremely well versed in the production of Tech House, with such amazing tracks as "Magic Carpet", "Oh Ley" & "Opium" under his belt. With some solid releases in the pipeline through his Jack Knife Label and from MildWild favorite Potty Mouth Records, it's definitely time you keep a tab on this guy if you havn't already. Feed him some support and check him out over at Beatport, also drop by his myspace page to let him know how you feel.

Mildlight: Joseph Capriati

Joseph Capriati is a world renown Tech-House producer from Caserta, Italy. His fresh style of Minimal has been recognized and complimented by some of the greatest Tech Dj's in the world; people like Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, and Ricardo Villalobos. Joseph Capriati's sound is full of surprises and his talent is limitless, give these tracks a shot then head on over to beatport where almost all of his tracks can be purchased. Oh, almost forgot, there's an interview with some good music too...

Delays and reverbs. Constant ride cymbal along with a huge sample, and a spacey bleep. Personal favorite.

Dark, erie vocals and synths. Small drumroll sample behind the beat, huge kick, and a melodic bass hum. Off the wall build-ups.

Simple yet effective. The repeating rhythm of the percussion is hypnotizing, accompanied by a solid bassline and all the smaller samples behind the beat. Excellent track.

Mildlight: Maxime Dangles

Maxime Dangles is a French House producer and DJ who's been making amazing Techno for years. His style is natural, deep, and simple, and is laced with beautiful harmonies throughout. He only makes music for the best, signed onto MildWild favorite, 'Kompact Records' with some of the biggest noise-makers in the world. It had been over a year since I last checked up on his tunes, I was amazed by the sound on his new Ep 'Speicher 64'. Check out these awesome tunes along with a mix of his favorite tracks from March 2009! If you didn't know by now, you can support these artists by going to a digital downloading site such as Beatport or DjDownload.

Slamming track, loud dirty snare, organs, and a creepy voice sample. Shhhhiiiiiiiittttteeeeee!

Maxime Dangles - Geode (Original Mix)
Repetitive bassline, atmosphereic sounds, huge peaktime, pure techno.

A mental rising occilating sounds and sirens though the entire track. Beautiful chaos!

Mildlight: Uto Karem

Uto Karem is an Italian producer who knows how to make some of the best Techno music on the planet. His impact on Minimal House Music in past years is undeniable, frequently making tunes that hit the top of the charts, and spinning with the biggest Tech Dj's in the world such as: Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, and Andre Galluzzi. Along with making great music, Uto also promotes his and others work on his own record label, Agile Recordings. Dig these tracks and head on over to beatport where his remix of Spektre's new track, 'Cheyenne', is sitting pretty at #1 on all the charts.

Lots of clicks and pops, delays and echos, and some deep synth hits. Gotta get it.

Trippy voice samples over a huge kick and a great synth riff, my personal favorite of the three.

Mellow. Very little down-time with continuous movement. A model Minimal track.
